Bestsellers:  any item that enters the Bestseller lists in “The Bookseller”, the weekly magazine of the Book Trade, which lists the best-selling fiction and non-fiction titles for that week.
Classics: any novel that over the years has generally come to be recognised as being of outstanding literary merit, or of lasting interest and significance.
Film, Radio and TV Tie-ins: any book that is being shown at the cinema or on TV or dramatised on the radio or that is connected to a film, or a TV or radio programme.
First novels: a novel by an author being published for the first time.
Foreign literature: a novel written by an author in any foreign language. Novels written by an author in a foreign language, but translated into English will be treated as books published in English.
Genre fiction: Action/Adventure stories;  Chick Lit;  Crime; Family sagas;        Historical Fiction; Horror; Romantic fiction; Science fiction and fantasy; War Stories and Westerns
Large Print : this comprises any book whose type size is larger than 12 point, regardless of genre or subject. Large Print books are purchased to make fiction and non-fiction available to those with visual impairment.
 Non-fiction books: any item that is not a novel. Wide subject areas with new titles added due to demand by readers and to update existing or expired stock.
Junior collections: Picture books; Early readers; Children's; Young adult;Crossover; Homework Collections and Audio books. A good mix of popular and quality fiction is ensured with the latter titles coming from children's book awards, e.g. Carnegie Medal and Royal Mail Awards.
