Text Box: Monumental Inscriptions
During the early 1980s, the transcriptions on every headstone in North Ayrshire, which were still visible and legible, were recorded. Many were also photographed. Unlike many projects of this kind, the recordings did not stop at 1855, but included all the stones up to the date of actual transcription. Many of the headstones were also photographed, thus preserving valuable information, which, over a period of time, would become lost to us.
