Text Box: We hold the census returns for the whole of North Ayrshire from 1841 to 1891, including the Isles of Arran and Cumbrae. A recent addition has been the 1901 census for the whole of Ayrshire and Bute.   This is an extract from the 1841 census for Kilwinning: 1871 Census for Kilbirnie: We also have in our collection the unofficial census returns carried out by the Rev. David Landsborough, Minister of Stevenston. The years covered are: 1819, 1822-1824, 1835-36, 1837, 1838, 1839 and 1842. The library holds the original manuscripts. Here is an extract from his population book, 1835:
