Supported Study   How do I join the Library?

How do I get a form?
Forms are available from your local library. If you are under 16 you will have to have your parents/carers (including grandparents/other relatives aged over 16) come to the library to complete one for you.

What proof of ID will be needed?
Two proofs of ID are required. We will need official proof of your address. Items such as a drivers licence and utility bills will be fine. Parents of children under 16 years old will need to provide the same.

How much does it cost to join the library?
It is free to join the library. There is a minimal cost to replace a ticket if you have lost one and some of the items have a minimal hire charge. Fines are also charged once items become overdue.

What Can I borrow?

Up to four items: fiction books, non-fiction books, graphic novels, CDs*, DVDs* and PS2 games* and talking books.

*aged 12 or over, but only 2 at a time. PS2 games 1 at a time

 
   

How do I get to use the computers?

If you are over 9 you will need to have your parents complete a computer consent form. These are available from your local library. Children under 9 need to have a parent present while using the computer

 
  What are the different categories of books in the Children's Library?

If you are:

8 years and under look out for your books beside the Early Reading signs

9-12 years look out for your books beside the Children's signs

We also have books for:

12-14 years
 

15 and over
 

All Non-Fiction books are grouped together in the library and arranged by using the Dewey Decimal System.

Look out for Homework Books. These can help you with homework and topic/project work. They are for reference only.
